Creating a Fulfilling Career
Isn’t a career one of the most significant decisions you can make in life?
Very often, we identify ourselves through the work that we do, as well as the career journey we take. Your career also determines the kind of contributions you make to society and to the community. However, knowing what career to embark on (or transition to) is the essential first step to a meaningful and impactful career.
Everyone needs to understand what enables them to tick, hence we have to ensure that when the time comes for us to choose a career, it has to be one that is a well-informed one.
This workshop introduces participants to the concept of
Career Attributes; or broadly, our Values, Interests, Personality and Strengths/Skills (VIPS for short). If our VIPS matches our work and the work environment, there is a higher chance that the work we do is shaped by a high level of motivation due to significant levels of engagement and contributions at work. These are elements that are critical to career success.
Career Values – What do I care about in a job? Family? Work-life balance? Honesty and Integrity? Intellectual Status? Time Freedom? Fast Pace? Security?
Occupational Interests – What kind of occupations am I interested in? Retail? Photography? Writing? Advertising? Sales? Finance? Human Resources?
Personality – Who am I? Do I like working with people, or working alone? Do I see the big picture or appreciate more of the details? Our personalities give us a clue to our work style.
Motivated Skills – What am I good at plus enjoy doing? Selling? Initiating Change? Dealing with Ambiguity? Working with Numbers? Budgeting? Mentoring? Negotiating?
In this workshop, participants will learn practical strategies to Develop self-awareness of their: • Values • Interest • Personality • Strengths & Motivation • Identify their career direction and build better relationships. • Leverage on their V.I.P.S in their job search, workplace or personal development.
