Your Career Counsellor

Career CouNselling services

As we go through different phases or life stages in our life, we will find that our career journey will constantly be in a state of change. Like how we have regular, yearly health checks with our medical doctors, as working professionals, we also need to have regular career health checks.

In these career health checks, we take stock of our career goals and make decisions that align with our life priorities. Our life priorities naturally change over time and are greatly influenced by the events that happen in our life, depending on both our age/life stage or even depending on where we are in our career.

Career counselling (also called career coaching) is a structured process to help us gain self-awareness of our values, interests, personalities, strengths and vulnerabilities. The objective of career counselling is to enable us to arrive at an insight to our own priorities and professional goals, so that we are able to make informed career-related choices and decisions.

Working with a career counsellor can also help you on a self-actualising journey toward higher performance and personal effectiveness, as well as guiding us toward a more fulfilling career. At T&A Careers, we take a holistic approach in facilitating your understanding of yourself and your life circumstances, as well as your current job and work environment. We then work collaboratively with you to set your career goals and map out constructive pathways in your career transition or advancement.

Our career counselling programs consist of multiple sessions of hour-long consultations with our Career Counsellor, Dr Timothy Hsi. The length of a program is typically between four to six sessions, depending on your goals and the coaching material to be covered.

Who Should See a Career Coach?

As our careers take up a large portion of our adult lives, it's fair to say that every working professional would derive benefits from career counselling sessions. However, seeking career counselling would be especially helpful if you recognise yourself in any of the following situations.

Feeling Unmotivated at Work

It is not an uncommon experience to lose the passion you once had for the job. If you have been working in the same industry or position for some time without any significant changes, you may find that you no longer feel the sense of fulfilment or even satisfaction from the work that you are doing every day. We can help you to rediscover what once excited you about your career, or figure out if it's time for a change.

Unsure of Your Long-term Career Prospects

You may be having difficulties seeing the direction of your career path, or feel a sense of insecurity regarding your future with the company you are at or even in the industry you are in. Perhaps the business is undergoing restructuring, or the industry is undergoing rapid transformation. At the same time, you may feel that your skills are no longer relevant, or be anxious about not getting promotions in spite of your hard work. Let's take stock and re-evaluate your options.

Experiencing Interpersonal Issues

Whether at work, at home or with our mates, it is all about the relationships that we form with other people that often have the biggest impact in our lives. If you have the ability to build good relationships at work, then there is a highly chance of career success. However, if you find yourself with strained relationships with your colleagues or bosses, or have become the target for office politics or workplace bullying, it can put your career at a standstill. Let us help you plan your next step forward.

Job Searching Without Success

You may have an idea about what you want in your life, however you are struggling to find it. Going for your dream job often means facing some incredibly tough competition, so why not maximise your chances with professional help? We can assist you with everything from resume creation and interviewing techniques, to personal appearance and networking skills.
